New in the App Catalog for 30 July 2010
PreCentral
4:19am
by: Derek Kessler
Yesterday was a light day in the App Catalog, again dominated by our friends at Upward Mobility. They may have pumped some 123 test prep apps into the App Catalog to date, but we’re fine with that - afterall, they aren’t piles of you-can-find-it-with-Google wallpapers, quotes, and public domain books. That doesn’t mean we won’t contin...

TamsPalm
Fri 11:14pm
by: Tam Hanna, Site Founder
When it comes to finding out which devices are actually liked by users, the data provided by the Swedish case manufacturer Krusell can be extremely valuable. The reason for that is that their main sales vectors are not the online business, but rather stores frequented by – um – less geeky people. For July 2010, [...]
HP supports homebrew, but competes with developers
TamsPalm
Fri 6:12pm
by: Tam Hanna, Site Founder
Palm has learned a lot about how to treat third-party developers – the exchange of many foul fruits, the new and mobile-experienced parents and the constant pressure from Apple have done a lot for the company. This is best seen in the following statement from HP’s CTO, which hits us via PreCentral: We also support [...]

Handling multiple lists and a command menu; Tips from the Facebook App
Palm Developer Blog
Fri 9:44am
by: Dion Almaer
When building the events scenario for the Facebook application I saw a screen that looks like this: Two lists. One shows the events coming up, and the other birthdays forthcoming. As a Web developer I looked at this in a simple way. Literally two lists. When you click on a different command menu button, you show [...]

It’s undeniable that some of us rely on Facebook more than others. While the official facebook app on webOS is good at what it does, it’s missing something crucial for many: Facebook chat. The team over at Palm updates the app frequently so we’d expect to see this feature added in the future. In addition [...]

PDA-247
Thu 7:25pm
by: Shaun
HP has upped the incentive to buy a Palm Pre Plus or Pixi Plus and is now including a $50 gift card which is valid in the HP Home and Home Office Store. All of these incentives are great and so is the rock bottom price of both phones, but the real incentive will be for HP to come up with webOS phones that people actually want to buy.
